The Information we need from Potential Volunteers

Ideally, we are providing enough information here on our website that you can self-direct and pursue your interest. If not then we will need information to facilitate. We need to know that the potential volunteer can and will account for all of their own personal needs and arrangements. Although we would like to some background information, we do not want CVs. We would like to know:

Before we facilitate (assist) anyone:

In order to ensure that you completely understands who we are, what we do and the fact that he, or she, is fully responsible for him, or her, self we must ask that you cut and paste the statements between the BEGIN and END labels into an email, then check one of the "The status of my current understanding is" statements, enter your name and the current date in month/date/year format into the blank spaces and send your email to the email address indicated.

I clearly understand that:

  1. The Rhythm of Hope in Brazil is only a source of information/introduction.
  2. The Rhythm of Hope in Brazil does not provide financial/material/ logistical assistance.
  3. Each volunteer which secures an opportunity as a result of learning about a program in Brazil is - without exception - completely responsible for all of his, or her, expenses, transportation, lodging, meals, personal security, medical needs and treatment, etc.
  4. Any volunteer who is uncomfortable with bearing the responsibilities indicated in item # 3 above may employ a pay-for-placement service, and I am aware that The Rhythm of Hope in Brazil recommends Iko Poran.

I understand and agree to all the above statements perfectly. I have no questions and I have no objections to the process employed by The Rhythm of Hope in Brazil.

What we do NOT provide volunteers

The Rhythm of Hope in Brazil does not provide financial or material assistance of any kind to volunteers. Unless the volunteer wishes to contract with a pay-for-placement service, he, or she, must be able to pay all of his, or her, own expenses and account for all of his, or her, own arrangements for travel, lodging, meals, safety, health coverage, etc. Volunteers are wholly responsible for themselves, including for personal safety.

Again - what we DO do

The Rhythm of Hope in Brazil facilitates - we try to make connections or introductions for people who want to volunteer, to sponsor a program, or to publicize needs or programs. We offer some useful information about Brazil and programs in Brazil working to help the less fortunate.

More about us

No one in The Rhythm of Hope in Brazil is compensated. We are not a foundation and we have no offices. We exist wherever our members live. Some of us who do not live in Brazil go to Brazil from time to time and. As individuals, we sometimes volunteer with other organizations. The Rhythm of Hope in Brazil makes it possible for people to connect with local Brazilian grassroots programs that work in Brazil. The only support we have is from people like you. We have expenses but no paid staff members. We would like to provide a deserving Afro-Brazilian coming out of the slums with a paid position representing us in Brazil.
